Top 10 Canned Foods To AVOID At All Cost!
Top 10 Canned Foods to Avoid for Optimal Health
Stop undermining your nutrition by reaching for convenient canned goods. Learn which ten foods degrade nutrients and leach harmful chemicals, ensuring your pantry supports, rather than sabotages, your health goals.
Short Summary
- Canned fruit often provides high sugar counts with nearly zero vitamin retention.
- Acidic canned items (like tomato sauces) erode can linings, releasing hormone-mimicking endocrine disruptors like BPA/BPS.
- Processed canned meals (soups, beans, pasta) overload on unneeded sugar, seed oils, and salt, lacking balancing electrolytes.
- Prioritize fresh food, reserving canned goods for rare emergencies, and choose glass jars or plain, single-ingredient options when necessary.
Dr. Sten Ekberg outlines the ten most problematic canned items health-conscious individuals should avoid. This guide explains the degradation of nutrients, the risks associated with can linings (BPA/BPS), and the hidden sugars and salts common in convenient shelf-stable foods. Use this information to make informed choices that protect your long-term wellness.

I live in Europe. I find it hard to eat healthy in the US. When I stay more than two or three weeks, even with the American family, second grade cousins, I feel less good than usual. Theres so much preservatives , sugar, seed oils, antibiotics, colorants genetically alteration ( all UScorn) chemicals in American food, that are not allowed in France, Italy and Germany for human consumption. And real food, fruit, organic vegetables, legumes is so expensive . What do the people with the Smaller paychecks buy? All the processed stuff because they have no choice.
Low income people and preppers purchase canned foods on sale to tide themselves and families over when times get hard. All of us prefer fresh but this is often not possible for various reasons. I am 73 years old and some of the things I have eaten during hard times would make a great “foods from the Great Depression” video. I just say a prayer and am thankful for something to eat.

Back in the 70s and early 90s, chef boyardee raviolis tasted good. Now it has a metallic taste and the consistency of mush. Edit. Buy frozen raviolis and use spaghetti sauce. Top with a good cheddar cheese.
If Chef Boyardee Ravioli was dangerous, I never would have made it out of the 1970s.
When you're a low income senior citizen and alone, you buy what is convenient, lower cost and with a longer shelf life. Times are tough for everyone!!!
I’m 68 and started replacing canned goods with fresh and frozen this year. It really does make a difference.
Anything made today is unhealthy for anyone, everything is bioengineered, heavily processed, and crap added to everything so I really don’t think it matters what you eat anymore as it’s all designed to make you sick.
In other words, don't eat canned food. I once picked up a load of canned fruit and vegetables at Del Monte in McAllen, Texas. It was all in glass jars bound for a region in northern Indiana with an Amish population. They wanted glass not for health benefits but because they could reuse the jars again for their own canning.
