It's easy to see why too and going back to it I was blown away by how much I enjoyed it again. I think when you haven't seen a film for a while you kind of forget JUST how good it is, but The Faculty is one of the best from the 90s. We've done the math and this is a true piece of art that no doubt will go down in history. Throughout this video we'll be breaking it down and discussing why it's ahead of the class. So come with me and make sure youre subscribed  and with that out the way, let's get into the movie. - So the Faculty came out during a time in which genre deconstructions were a big thing. Film had established several staples of stories but along with this there'd come several tropes. Directors like Quentin Tarantino, you know, his works clearly a nod to whats come before. Lots of directors and writers were doing this and it was very much a Meta time in movies. Now one person who capitalised on this was Kevin Williamson who'd made his name as the writer of Scream. Scream set up characters who'd watch every kind of slasher movie and thus they'd become aware of the tropes. Because of this the smart ones could avoid them and thus make it to the end of the movie. Scream was obviously a massive success and Williamson then went to work on Dawsons creek. During this he crafted I Know What You Did Last Summer and he was one of the emerging voices in Hollywood. Having tackled two slashers Williamson then turned his eyes to a different kind of horror. That was the alien invasion.
