Curing Autism, Epilepsy & Schizophrenia with Stem Cells | Dr. Sergiu Pașca
Biology, Genetics, and Stem Cell Models for Autism and Brain Disorders
Discover how human stem cell models—organoids and assembloids—are unlocking fundamental insights into autism, schizophrenia, and the brain's developmental timing, leading toward novel therapeutic pathways.
Short Summary
- Establish that Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is behaviorally defined but has a strong genetic basis, explaining rising diagnoses through criteria shifts and increased understanding.
- Learn how Dr. Pașca pioneered stem cell tools (organoids/assembloids) to model complex brain development outside the body.
- Understand the critical distinction between profound autism requiring intervention and high-functioning individuals, noting the severe risks of unproven stem cell injection therapies.
- The discussion outlines the path from discovering genetic markers (like in Timothy Syndrome) to developing targeted, RNA-based therapeutic approaches validated in advanced models.
These tools bypass the inaccessibility of the developing brain, allowing scientists to witness developmental timelines, observe circuit formation, and test interventions based purely on human cellular mechanisms. This work offers a blueprint for understanding other challenging neurological and psychiatric conditions.

As someone with autism, most people see me as quiet and socially awkward. I try to join conversations, but people talk over me or walk away. I don’t always know what to say or when to say it, and that often makes me feel left out, like I’m even more invisible. I’ve spent my whole life trying to fit in, but the harder I try, the more I feel like I don’t belong anywhere. People think of people on the spectrum are smart or quirky, but for me, it mostly means feeling alone in a world that doesn’t slow down or understand. It’s not just hard, it’s very isolating.

Bro I hope this can cure stupidity, cause i’m struggling.
we need more on schizophrenia, love your content! :D
Please bring him back again with updates. Love, as always ❤
As someone with seizures, I’ve been waiting for this episode
Extremely impressive guest. An extraordinaly intelligent, clear and scientifically sophisticated mind. Future legend in the field, but I get the feeling he would be a genius at anything he puts his mind to. Also can't help but notice how young he looks, must be using those stem cell therapies to the best of his knowledge on himself.
Please make video on..... Difficulty in sleep because of 1.fantasy thinking, 2.Maladaptive day dreaming, 3. living In a imaginary world by creating fake scenarios, 4. replaying and ruminating all the things happened during day
This guy is such a great scientist. Love to see it.
Just read about it, never thought to see this guy in your podcast. He is from România. 😊
