4 Steps to Unlock Your Creativity & Feel More Inspired Every Day
Unlock Your Undeniable Creative Force Through Four Core Principles
Discover how creativity powerfully hones your intuition, enabling you to feel more alive and make decisions with clarity. Learn the four repeatable steps to quiet noise and act fast on what truly sparks your spirit.
Short Summary
- Creativity functions as an essential "exhale," balancing the relentless "inhale" of modern distraction and sensory overload.
- Reframe creativity not as output valued by others, but as an internal expression of your unique intuition and preferences.
- Implement four distinct principles—Shedding Expectations, Lowering Stakes, Bringing Self to Work, and Finding Sanctuary—to integrate inspiration into daily life.
- This approach helps heal internal wounds by reconnecting you with deeper, meaningful aspects of existence.
Mel Robbins and musician Phil Cook explore how everyone possesses inherent artistic depth, regardless of career path. This discussion provides practical tools to move past creative blocks, reconnect with self, and unlock energy by honoring the quiet signals intuition sends daily.

Now retired and always creating . I write poetry 51 books on Amazon. No one reads lol. But I dont love to write ,I breath to write. Inspired by life's daily gifts!🙏
Wow wow wow! This speaks to me so deeply! I loved to draw as a kid but lost my confidence. Too worried about what others think…..and damn hasn’t that worry accompanied me in every facet of my adult life. During COVID I started online watercolour painting classes and have found my love of painting and drawing again. But in the last year my painting practice has suffered as I get stuck in my head with the ‘I’m not good enough’ narrative 😢 Yet every day I feel such a strong urge to create. I’m in my late 50’s and the narratives are so strongly ingrained. I felt tears as I listened to this and it has me so motivated to not only create again but also look at the ways I express creativity outside of art……….and I’m going to embrace my love of funky clothes and jewelry and not worry about what others think. I also love music so maybe it’s time to take those paint lessons ☺️ Thank you Mel for this podcast today! I really needed to hear this ❤
The year I turned 50, I was in Mexico and once again was bemoaning the fact that I never learned to speak Spanish. I had an epiphany suddenly. What’s stopping you? I downloaded Duolingo and started doing lessons every day. I now read and understand at an intermediate level. I still need to improve my speaking skills, but I’m working toward it every day! It’s never too late to learn a new skill.
This segment SO speaks to me, I wanted to reach through my phone and hug him and Mel! Thank you SO MUCH for this podcast!! ❤️
For awhile, I’ve felt like I’ve lost my spark within my own creativity. I hope I find my spark again.
Wow, That is so amazing, I like the quote by Picasso. “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
A malignant narcissist crushed my creativity, he sucked it right out of me. He was a thief in more ways than one!!! I was drained from his demeaning abuse for three years. He's long gone and I'm healing and getting stronger everyday - thank God 🙏 Mel and Phil are so inspiring... thank you both ❤️ 😊 I'm ready to be creative again, find my spark again!!!!! 🎉 Bigger and better than before that "bad guy" came into my life!!! Let's go, people!!! 😎
It is celebrating the joy in life. The joy that comes from inside, the joy that that’s meant to be shared.
Sanctuary...about 10 years ago I started going to a local jam, meeting weekly with a bunch of amateur musicians, playing songs that we grew up with, getting lost in the music for a couple of hours. I distinctly remember driving home one night and thinking, wow, for those two hours I forgot about everything else that is going on in the world around me. Nothing else mattered. Phil, musician philosopher, thank you!
❤ Creativity is all that we ARE born with! It can be anything that we do. Even simple acts like reading something, writing a simple line, talking with genuinity, how we feel. Creativity need not be being an artist or singer or write. YOU been YOU is so powerfully CREATIVE!! ❤
