100% agree just took me a while to figure that out. They also will never understand your voice or your deepest feelings. Never. Stop expecting it.
100% agree with you Mel!! We are responsible for making our dreams come true whether we have the family support or not.
My family not only never supported me in anything in life, they abused, persecuted, and tore me down every chance they got.
I have made that mistake so many times 😢 I always get hurt because of the expectations
Not everyone will understand your growth - that’s okay, it’s not their path!🙌🌟
Not everyone will understand your goals, and they do not have to. The people who are meant to build something different have to learn how to move without needing constant approval from the people around them.
I haven’t even watched yet, and I can’t wait. Let me tell you what happened to me when I expected my family to support me. I had graduated from college, passed the CPA exam, and told my father I wanted to go to law school, and was met with “Stop talking out of your ass.” Flip side, to my uneducated mother who needed a child to brag about, I was nothing unless I became an attorney (Watch the Mother Hunger with Mel and Kelly). It took me 20 years to muster the courage to go to law school, and now, at 65, I am working to grow a practice that would have been much easier to grow at 45. Love and trust yourself. No one knows you better than you! If you have no one who will support you, find people who will. Make all your dreams come true!
This hits home right now
So glad for your message, Mel! Yes, this was a good reminder and tips as I often feel like I’m walking alone with some of my goals —family doesn’t always have your back.
So true, Mel. Let’s keep looking outward and upward for things and people that support us. Our families love us they way we are - of course any changes we say we want to make to ourselves cause them to go ‘whaaa?’
