The monologue at the bench by *Donald Sutherland* is SO good. RIP. 🥀🎭
John Candy. This role for him was VERY important according to him. He so wanted to break away from his comedic person for this he was so nervous. He would practice and rehears for hours studying the real Dean Andrews (And yes, he nailed). His two kids said he NEVER yelled at them or got upset with them before, but while he was rehearsing for this movie and they got into mischief in front of him, it was the one and only time he lost his temper with them. On the day he did this role he was so nervous the sweat on his lips were real and Oliver Stone loved it that he kept him as he was. Bless this man as he did not fully know it, but he nailed this role perfectly. RIP John.
I used to think John Candy's portrayal of Dean Andrews was the strangest thing in the world. Then I saw real footage of Dean Andrews and it is spot on. Every movement, every phrase, every mannerism exactly how Dean Andrews is normally. He was just one strange attorney.
Whether you not you believe the conspiracy is up to you, but there is one thing about “JFK”: it is an absolute masterclass of filmmaking. Writing, direction, acting, cinematography, editing, music, even the sound is top notch. Movies like this only come out every once in a while.
The Donald Sutherland character, "X", was the most important and most consequential part of the film, and the story. He laid out the entire conspiracy, and gave the reasons for it, and what would happen if things went wrong. Probably the closest to the real truth in the whole film.
YES!!! Been begging reactors to watch this one for years!
"In that document.... lay the Vietnam War." For me, the most powerful line in the movie.
I love how DONALD SUTHERLAND always sounds like he's narrating whatever he's in.
I was 12 yrs old that day. It was the end of the innocence. It changed everything in our lives. I cried for days and was watching live TV when they shot Oswald. I grew up near RIce University. My Dad had taken me to see Kennedy announce that we were going to the moon by the end of the decade..and we did! I had never seen a President in person before. Worse. My Dad took me and my Sister to watch JFK and Jackie leave the Rice Hotel....the day before Dallas. I saw JFK up close...but he was on the other side from us..Jackie walked on our side. She briefly touched my hand..as she did the other kids watching. So..yes..the assassination runs deep to this day. Thank you for your honest and emotional reaction...❣
The acting in this movie is tremendous, even though you know every single actor along the way they pull off their characters so well you never feel like you're watching actors.
