This part really caught my interest.: 🧠 Fat Cells Have “Memory” When you gain weight, your cells undergo an “epigenetic software update” — turning off fat-burning and anti-inflammatory genes. This leads to the yo-yo effect — your body tries to return to that “overweight normal.” But: If you maintain weight loss for 1 year, this memory can be erased and replaced.
What I got out of this is you need to keep the weight off for 1 year to reprogram.
What a wonderful guest, not only clearly super knowledgeable, but she is also such a great science communicator and so charismatic.
Brilliant lady and i could listen to her accent all day ❤
Interesting discussion with guest. Watching the video in x2 made it easier to watch due to my adult ADD. 😊
After pregnancy I had a difficult time losing weight permanently. I didn’t diet but thought the weight would just come off. I hadn’t been overweight, I didn’t gain over the recommended amount. I did realize my body recognized a set point in my body weight. It took longer to get back to my normal weight but I did. As I’ve aged I recognized the same thing happening. If I keep my weight within a few pounds of my own ideal I’m fine, if I gain over that it’s harder to get back to ideal. I see the memory within. So, because I’ve lived this I work on keeping my weight level - no dieting, just being consistent and careful.
I do appreciate knowledgable people saying when they “don’t know” something, instead of making stuff up👍🏽
I enjoyed every minute of this. To the people complaining about the long interviews, surely these type of videos or not for you. Sometimes there’s no quick answer, esp when talking about such complex topics.
That segment (at about 20 minutes in) is AMAZING & revelatory. I am truly enjoying & appreciating this interview.
Finally, someone clearly explained the wine.
