My hands are literally trembling while I type this because I used to be that woman crying in the doctor's office, being told my symptoms were "just part of getting older." At 42, I felt like my body was falling apart - joint pain, no energy, gaining weight no matter what I tried. Then I discovered The Peasant's Prescription by Grace Wild, and it was like finding a manual for my own body that had been written in a language I'd forgotten. She breaks down how our ancestors ate and lived before chronic disease became "normal," and the truth is almost too simple to believe. I stopped eating like a modern woman and started eating like my great-grandmother, and the transformation has been terrifying in the best way. My husband keeps asking what I'm doing differently because I look 10 years younger. This isn't about fad diets or expensive supplements. It's about remembering who we were before they convinced us we needed to be sick.
I owe you a sincere apology, Thomas. I had no idea you used to weigh 300 pounds. I assumed you always looked this way and didn't have the same kind of struggle I did to lose 1/3 of my body weight. My idiotic bias allowed me to discount you simply as a formerly skinny kid who joined the gym and gained some muscle. I'm sorry. Good on ya. My method was nearly imperceptible but meaningful decreases in food consumption, day by day (one spoon less). It worked, but I didn't change the content of the food or increase exercise. Now I'm paying for that. Keep up the great work. Much respect - that I should have given long ago.
I started this year at 467. Today I am 382. I take a lot of advice from you, as well as Drs Fung, bickman, and boz. I am grateful for your videos. The one thing I would advise anyone, is learn what YOU will do and wont do. Ive tried things thats advised but beyond my capability. After a lot of painful trials, I know how I handle myself and what is a bridge too far
Mustard, AND Hot Sauce! They're cheatcodes to adding a ton of flavor with almost zero calories etc
I had no idea you once weighed 300. Would have not believed it. I lost 80 lbs. From 214 just for my health because I was way too heavy. Dieted and walked, nothing extreme. I feel much better and now eat healthy. Thanks for your videos.
dude I like your vibe on this video - like you're having a calm and sincere convo with a friend rather than shouting something 'important' to the world. And of course the info itself is really good - very relevant to me.
I’m over 300 pounds, and I need to lose a ton of weight for a bunch of personal reasons. I’m listening. UPDATE: I am now almost 30 pounds down and not over 300 pounds anymore, in case anyone was wondering. Thank you to the person who liked the comment, I completely forgot about this, and now I saw how far I had gone in two months.

The best thing about your videos - you aren’t afraid to change your guidance or learn from new science. You got me on keto and fasting three years ago and it didn’t stick even though I lost the weight. Had a wake up call recently and needed to find the healthy me again. Tuned back in and so glad I did. Your recommendations and learning are making this so much easier now. Lifestyle changes, taking on the demons, and finding the sustainable normal. Thank you.
It’s great to see Thomas being kind to himself and helping us all learn from his hindsight. Personally I love this video because it models to all of us, that being connected emotionally is fundamentally valuable to physical health. Genuine, insightful and authentic. Thanks Thomas❤
