Modern (Western) Medicine is excellent at treating acute illness/injury, but it fails horribly at chronic condition treatments. The money isn't in healing us, but keeping us dependent long-term on the pharmaceuticals pushed on us all.
Doctor here, and she's not at all wrong about medicine, at all. I routinely talk about nutrition, strength training, lifestyle, and the like in my patient appointments. I have so few patients who will take me up on it, though. If I can get kids or young adults on a sports team, cutting out processed food, spending time with their family, in bed at the same time every night and up at the same time, out hiking, in the sun, cutting out drugs and swapping them with fitness or passions, in prayer and in a healthy church family, my patient population would be infinitely more healthy, and I would need far fewer of the medications that I do use. That's a big ask, and I have so few willing to meaningfully engage with me on that journey. I'm also not afraid to tell someone that I have no idea what they're going on about, but I'm willing to do some reading and get back to them. Often, I am hoping a few words stick, and maybe they spend some time researching it themselves. That's where the growth will happen, anyway.
