Dexter Holland Dropped Serious Fat at 59 - Here’s What He Ate
Analyzing Optimal Nutrition Strategies for Ages 50+ Based on Expert Review
Discover actionable counter-intuitive advice regarding dietary timing, necessary caloric intake, and specific dairy choices that support longevity and peak metabolism in later life.
Short Summary
- Prioritize high energy flux (G-Flux: high intake fuel matched with high output) over strict calorie restriction as you age.
- Time carbohydrate intake based on metabolic health; allocate fats earlier in the day (morning) and carbs later (evening) for better sleep promotion.
- Value whole-fat, high-quality dairy (like sheep feta) for unique fatty acid profiles (C15 fat) over substitutes like oat milk. This analysis reviews the dietary patterns of an active, nearly 60-year-old individual, providing expert commentary on how to tweak and optimize their habits for sustained health and performance.

He also got all his boosters like a good boy...
I lost 140lbs when I was 59yo. Feel a lot better
Yes, black coffee with heavy cream, no sugar!!!
This is exactly what i do,i switched to mainly raw whole milk, eggs, sardines, lean beef, veggies and small amounts of citrus fruit and frozen berries to save money (I'm in the cost of living crisis UK ) The raw whole milk replacing turkey mince, avocaods and cottage cheese. I was expecting to gain fat but surprisingly i got stronger, trained harder, recovered better and got leaner. I suspect its because of the increased calories from the milk i get my calories in faster and spend more time "fasted". I do heavy weight/power training,Boxing skill specific drills and high intensity cardio,i'm only 54 years old,so a spring chicken.😂😅
I feel great shame for being a huge Offspring fan and not knowing who Bryan Keith "Dexter" Holland, Ph.D., was by name. 🤦♂
problem is I really don't like eating much before the afternoon, and not really a fan of most breakfast foods.
Tommy, I love you to death. You started to change my life about seven years ago and I’m forever grateful but I got a call out. You get a little Squirrley with observations sometimes. You gotta look outside of your box. The oat milk thing makes perfect sense, especially for regular coffee drinkers who battle acid. As you get older, all of us, technically are lactose intolerant, but it gets worse whether you notice it or not. Lattes with full milk absolutely blow you up and can give you some serious acid reflux, depending on your current health status and what you’re putting in your body as you know. I’m just saying, I don’t think someone whispered it in his ear. I am not gonna argue with you that it’s better but when you get older that might change man. I’m 44. I made the switch about three years ago and it’s just creamy or creamier and not as heavy. It’s not a calorie thing for everybody. That’s what I mean by looking so one dimensional on this some of these observations and personal choices. Not coming down or gaslighting just had to comment on this one, buddy God bless you appreciate you and everything you do and your family.🙏
I'm 58 and I lifted for decades, this sets us up for success. Now, it's totally different for 50+ people who have not lifted for years. We know what works. Build a foundation then navigate with good proteins while switching from lifting to higher intensity sessions with some weights. I weigh 225 and my out of shape friend at 225 are apples and oranges.
I've never drunk half or skim or lowfat milk or eaten margarine in my entire life... whole milk, butter, olive oil.
It’s insane how underrated book called Secret Testosterone Nexus of Evolution still is. Anyone serious about peak testosterone should’ve read this already.
