I wanted to become a morning person. (Now I am and I love it). To help me weak up and leave my cozy bed early, I drank two glasses of water right before bedtime. So in the morning I really needed to run to the bathroom 😂
1) Wake up within 5 seconds of the alarm, no matter what. 2) Make the bed. 3) High five yourself in the mirror. 4) Drink a full glass of water (try to delay coffee). 5) Get natural sun light. 6) Take a 10 minute walk.
I love this episode. I have no problem getting up. I used to make my bed but read somewhere along the way that you should air out your sheets before you make the bed. Because sheets might be damp, letting moisture evaporate first could keep dust mites at bay. I actually tidy my bed by pulling the sheets back neatly. I get some water, prep my coffee, etc.. The next time I go in my bedroom, I make the bed. Just wanted to share. Do what works best for you!
I find my anxiety in the morning is only on the weekdays because I’m anticipating how much I have to do for work. So preparing as much the evening before - packing lunches, making a schedule, etc helps tremendously
This was a lightbulb for me even though I’ve been listening to you speak on this for a while. I just finally got it from this episode. It’s about protecting the only time I have to myself is when I first get up. Starting tomorrow when I wake up, I will not be checking my phone. I will protect the first two hours of my morning for myself and not feel guilty about it. Thank you Mel
“The things that you do before you do everything for everybody else.” I felt that Mel.
2 things - 1. Don't make your bed. Throw everything back and let the sunshine in and the moisture that's accumulated evaporate for 15 minutes then make your bed. 2. In your glass of water 1 or half grind of Himalayan salt and 1 squeeze of lemon (if you can). Gives you electrolytes.
I don't rest when I sleep. I will wake up in mid thought. The hour I give myself in the morning to drink coffee and sit in my chair is the most relaxed I feel. I feel comfortable and actually enjoy my home instead of panicking over bills every second.
I did this this morning after listening yesterday and I felt so incredibly different and better that I had to come back and post this comment. I was absolutely skeptical but said to myself that I need to at least try it.
What I'm going to add, as a retired person, is after I make my bed I'll get dressed rather than hang out in my PJs and robe for a couple hours. Of course if I'm going to do the morning walk I will be getting anyway!
