Science alert. Just because you do not know the mechanism underlying a result does not get rid of the result. If taurine increase lifespan across organisms (and of course we should run studies in humans), then it does. Whether taurine levels rise, fall, or stay the same. It is nice to know mechanisms, but not being able to explain a result does not make the result go away.
I’ve been taking taurine for 15 years. It reduced my tinnitus and I don’t get irritated very much. I used to get stress migraines when I worked and taurine resolved those. I’m on taurine for the foreseeable future.
Taurine has worked wonders for me. So far, so good. I knew it was a matter of time, as this amino acid became popular, a single study that contradicts the millions of others, would be covered by the mainstream thinking.
I have an elderly cat, he is 18 years old and he has hyperthyroidism. At some point he started to become very weak, his legs were shaking, he could not jump and run, he was staggering. We started, in addition to the tablets for hyperthyroidism, also give Taurine and NAC, and the cat became more active, he started to jump and sometimes even can run a little, can fight back a young cat, in general his condition has definitely improved.
My results; I read many studies of taurine early in 2024, my idea wasn't to necessarily to increase life span as much as maintain my quality of life as I grew older, I'm almost 72 now. Based on what I read, in early 2024, I started taking high doses of taurine. Over the last 1 year+, the one major effect I've noticed is quality of sleep. For the last 30 years or so prior, my sleep probably averaged 5 hours a night, and oddly I rarely remembered having any dreams. Soon after I started taking 3 grams in the morning and 3 grams in the evening, my sleep changed dramatically, I average 7 to 8 hours sleep, it is easy to fall asleep and to return to sleep after being wakened during the night, and the most remarkable thing is I have dreams every night. The recent "taurine driving cancer" research didn't convince me to change anything.
I take Taurine for two reasons: Lowering blood pressure and evacuation of bad cholesterol.

I have it in my pre workout so I will still keep taking
Am 88 and have been taking taurine for two years and call it my rocket fuel for bicycling, lifting weights. Works for me.
So much for studies. Yes, no, yes, no, don’t know...
