Find out your ideal diet with my ANIMAL-BASED CALCULATOR: https://www.paulsaladinomd.co/ab-guide#calculator?utm_source=yt&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=costcoMeat --- --- --- Here's how to shop for meat at Costco, including grass-fed options, affordable cuts, and a pro tip for shopping lamb... In this video, I'm breaking down the meat section at Costco and sharing tips on how to choose the best options, including grass-fed versus grain-finished beef. Understanding the sourcing and quality of your meat is crucial for optimal health, aligning with my belief that diet is a powerful tool for well-being. While grain-finished meat can still be nutritious, opting for grass-fed when possible offers potential benefits by minimizing exposure to pesticides and mold toxins found in grains. Remember, incorporating nutrient-dense animal foods like meat and organs is key. It's always meat / organs / fruit / honey / raw dairy. This is an ANIMAL-BASED diet, and I believe this is the most optimal diet for humans on the planet... --- --- --- If you can't get fresh heart & liver in your diet, try our 100% grass-fed desiccated beef organs at Heart & Soil: https://shop.heartandsoil.co/products/beef-organs --- --- --- 00:00 Costco meat shopping tips 01:02 USDA Prime or Choice? 01:55 Finding affordable steak options 03:21 More great steak cuts 07:25 Pro tip for buying lamb 08:26 Best ground beef at Costco 11:08 The missing piece in your meat haul --- --- --- REFERENCES * More marbling suggests that cows are not as metabolically healthy: https://twinwoodcattle.com/sites/default/files/publications/2018-11/Marbling%20biology%20,%20what%20do%20we%20know%20about%20getting%20fat%20into%20muscle.pdf * Most atlantic salmon is farmed not wild: https://iu.pressbooks.pub/foodfiberfashionfa20/chapter/where-does-your-salmon-come-from/ * Heavy metals in fish: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-69561-7 * Microplastics in grain-fed beef: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10093235t, https://www.newhaven.edu/news/blog/2024/beatrice-glaviano-explores-microplastics-impact.php * Mold toxins in grain-fed beef: https://extension.umn.edu/beef-feedlot/feeding-moldy-grain-cattle * Red meat is not a health risk: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9556326/?t#Sec12, https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6971786/, https://bigthink.com/health/red-meat-cancer-not-health-risk/ * Most Australian lamb is grass-fed: https://www.aussiebeefandlamb.com/SysSiteAssets/lamb-page/badjar0418_brochure_lamb_america_v055.pdf SOCIALS Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paulsaladinomd TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@paulsaladinomd2 Twitter: https://twitter.com/paulsaladinomd Send a message to the team: [email protected] DISCLAIMER Dr. Paul Saladino received his medical degree from the University of Arizona Medical School. As a retired organic beef farmer, I believe that everyone should know that the industry plays silly word games to confuse you as to what you are buying! Just because the package states that the beef is grass fed doesn't mean beef is fed organic hay (100% GMO grass) unless it states it on the package, therefore most grass fed beef are grown on nasty overcrowded feed lots, not in pastures. Even "organic" beef can be, or is raised in nasty feed lots. They are just fed organic feed. What you want to do is pay the price for "organic pasture raised hormone and antibiotic free" beef. Same with chicken, turkey, or any other fowl. Your health is worth it.

I really appreciate it when people don’t crap on grain fed steak; as not many people can afford that kind of perfection/specificity. Never let grain fed deter you!

Dude, Costco sells grass fed burgers for $5/lb. Can't beat that.

I get it that Costco is convenient and cheap when you are feeding a family but once I started going to my local dairy and butcher shops I almost stopped going to Costco, Aldi, and Walmart altogether. The quality is so much better, the experience isn’t nearly as stressful, I get to actually participate in my local economy. It’s hands down a better experience and I’d gladly pay more for it even if that means cutting back elsewhere.

Amazing that we now think that $5 a pound is now cheap meat. Sometimes I wish my memory wasn't as good as it is.

Paul i hope you see this comment, i been getting ground beef grinded with beef liver for a year, one of the workers in the butchery told me he even tried it himself, he usualy grinds the beef and liver for me, i didnt even convince him to try, i been eating raw organic honey and also using it as a sweetner, also seem like your videos been trending on a youtube channel called maximbadlyoffical which never shines a good light when it comes to that, you should tottaly make some witty clever respected video as a reply to the creator, it exposed alot of viewers to your content but not enough info to make them understand why you do the things you do, keep being awsome.
