Ive been in ketosis for about three months working through your plan stages 1-6. I started 7&8 yesterday, OMAD. Glucose 90, Blood ketones 3.3. According to my keto Mojo GKI is 1.5 which is high therapeutic level of ketones. The Dr Boz ratio would be 27. I’ve lost 20 lbs since January. So far no problem with the 23:1 OMAD! 😊 I have over 100 lbs to lose and I'm T2 diabetic, so I have a long way to go but the keto ketoCONTINUUM is working for me.
So proud of your son for sticking up for Women , and you for supporting Riley Gains, and the great work she is doing. !!!❤❤❤
Hi Dr. Boz! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm a 43 year old woman who is taking charge of my health. I've been doing two 72 hour fasts a month with 36 hour fasts sprinkled in. I've lost 25 pounds so far and I'm working to lose 30 more. Your videos have been very helpful and you keep me motivated. Thank you! ❤
Forgot to mention. I did try fast according to women’s menstrual cycle. It got me into that bad carb addiction very easily. And made it harder to get out of that addiction to carbs even it is natural or health carbs. I am glad that Dr Boz had this episode. I finally can have the peace with my struggles: should I follow the menstrual cycle pattern or go with my own body feeling? It is harder to fast towards my period BUT it helps me to get rid of cravings and those nasty feelings of uncontrollable anxiety. Thank you Dr Boz!
Patients who retain water due to lymphatic deregulation will take longer to get into ketosis. The blood glucose in the lymphatic system will keep blood sugar levels higher for a longer period of time. Remember one of the pathways that turns on ketosis is when the body senses you are getting low in water. Ketosis is turned on to access the water from the fat. The theory needing to drink plenty of water when fasting may need to be readdressed. I recently completed a 5 day dry fasting. I lost 10lbs of fat. Prior to the dry fast I would dry fast from 11pm to 5pm the next day. I got rid of a lot of the extra water weight that is stored in your lymphatic system. Then I did the dry fast and felt even better than when I water fasted. Most people overweight are going to have lymphatic dysfunction. When you have leaky gut the proteins, fats, foods and endotoxins seep into the lymphatic system stimulating immune dysfunction.
I wish your clinics were nationwide and more accessible to all people! This is so desperately needed!
Yes .4 is my highest a1c 5.4 trying to lose weight and have uc in remission since I started keto. Recently gained it back due to stress. Stress over and have lost 10lbs. Lean towards ketovore... 3 leaky valves and bad back due to a bad accident 38 yes ago. Chronic bronchitis since I was born.. the diet has helped me immensely but no high ketones. I was in your first class. Healthier than I ever was and I will take that. Age 74
I completely fixed my menopause symptoms with a 72 hour fast. Now I fast every day (IF + OMAD) and a 48 hour once a week. I just skip a day of eating every week, usually Wednesday, ZERO menopause symptoms now. I make sure to eat whole nutrient dense foods. Its working beautifully! Also I live in Florida too, Pensacola!
For people who don't transition to ketosis well, another thing to consider is high insulin supresses ketone production. If their insulin does not come down fast enough, that could be a big problem resuling in neither glucose nor sufficient ketones, and IMO may be the cause of the infamous 'keto flu.' IME what helps with that is taking exogenous ketones, helps get them over the hump without triggering more insulin.
Love your educated humility and concern for patients through science. It's refreshing.
