Epicardial fat (also called epicardial adipose tissue, or EAT) is a specialized subset of visceral fat located specifically between the myocardium and the visceral layer of the pericardium, whereas general visceral fat refers to adipose tissue surrounding abdominal organs. Epicardial fat is not merely "fat on the heart" but a distinct endocrine organ that can be protective or harmful depending on its volume and inflammatory state. While general visceral fat drives systemic metabolic disease, epicardial fat exerts direct, local effects on coronary arteries and myocardial function.
Another helpful tip that this video indirectly makes is that it can be a combination of factors that can help reduce fat around the heart, as opposed to focusing solely on one factor. Nice video!
