My approach is to *treat your brain like a muscle:* - Exercise all parts: learn new things (books, languages, music) + engage socially + complex physical exercises - Protect from damage: no alcohol/smoke; HEPA filters; low mold; helmet if skiing - Feed: stay insulin sensitive, so brain can switch between glucose and ketones with ease - Recover: sleep is when you actually get ̷s̷t̷r̷o̷n̷g̷e̷r̷ smarter and improve structure

My partner is 84 and had the two Shingrix vaccines a few months apart in 2024 after I was hospitalized for ocular shingles in July 2024. He started developing dementia this summer of 2025, but he has a long history of falling over from a chair onto his head, or falling from standing and hitting his head. He also smoked for years, but not sure how long. I had one Shingrix shot in early August, and need to go back soon for the second. I also started taking Lithium last month and I have subjectively observed better memory recall. I am 81. Thank you for this valuable information!

I really appreciate how the study focused on outcomes rather than just counting plaques and saying "less plaques means less impairment."

recently turned 65. the very next day, I got my first dose of shingles vax. Grateful that it may prevent/ slow down dementia. My motivation was mainly to avoid the very painful and dangerous illness.

My beloved uncle just died of dementia. About 20 years ago, he had a terrible bout of shingles. If this type of flare-up truly is causative of dementia over time, I hope the vaccine can save people from the horrible death that dementia delivers.

In the US the shingles vaccine is only generally available to those 50+ and costs $75+ even when available. I've already had shingles in my thirties and it's happening more to younger people. We really need to change how we do things.

I got the vaccine a couple years ago . My older brother and sister both got shingles . It's really amazing what modern medicine can do .
