Great this pops up literally within 3 minutes after my first omega 3 supplement pill.
get algae based dha & epa, it's where the fish get theirs!
Finally a mainstream YouTube video sharing the oxidation problem of omega 3 fats
The best Omega-3 brands—such as Nordic Naturals, Sports Research, and Carlson Labs—stand out because they routinely secure a 5-star International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS) rating, verifying elite purity and freshness. These companies are considered superior because they protect their oils using nitrogen flushing and opaque packaging to prevent oxygen exposure, keeping their TOTOX (Total Oxidation) scores remarkably low (often under 5, compared to the industry limit of 26). Furthermore, they process their supplements in the highly bioavailable triglyceride (TG or rTG) form rather than cheaper ethyl esters. This structural form is not only absorbed up to 70% better by the human body, but it is also naturally more stable and significantly more resistant to turning rancid over time.
I eat chia seeds and walnuts every day and oily fish three times a week. Supplements in pill form are always going to be problematic because of the competition for the supplement dollar.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to honesty in science.
Thanks for bringing this updated information. Looks like omega3 is going to follow the same path as the vitamin D story: starts by being totally ignored for 40 years or more then became THE must to take then an ALARM has been sound to alert about its toxicity so for dummy people like me, I'm now perfectly desoriented.
Oxidized fish oil is definitely a concern, however, I switched to a algae oil omega 3 supplement due to my concern with mercury levels in fish.! Methyl mercury has been proven to cross the blood brain barrier and “denude” brain synapses. My suggestion is to use algae oil based omega 3 supplements and keep them in your refrigerator for additional peace of mind.
I have been taking fish oil for over 20 years, one of the key factors is freshness, buy the freshest fish oil you, always refrigerated as soon as you get home, & especially after opening, second if you are getting fish burps, then the fish oil is probably already rancid, & like any other food or supplements that have gone bad, they will cause inflammation & your body will respond negatively, also the Triglycerides form is best, if not from omega rich foods like wild salmon or sardines.
