I JUST read this study. You’re really on top of it!
Most doctors offices are too casual when taking blood pressure. You need to be sitting calmly for 5-10 minutes before taking blood pressure.' You feet need to be on the ground. You need to be sitting up and your arm relaxed. You should not be talking and should not have to go to the bathroom or have had coffee prior to getting tested.
Looks like whole food ( not food from a box or package) ,exercise, reasonable body weight ( my waistband is 11 inches smaller than my hips) , good sleep, and stress control can ameliorate almost any health concern.
Dr Brad, you forgot to mention "secondary hypertension" - hypertension caused by something else. I had hypertension in spite of all the positive lifestyle. It got worse and worse, until finally I was diagnosed with Cushing's disease. When I had my surgery to remove the tumor that caused the disease, my blood pressure came down all by itself. My bp is now totally normal. Tell people to check for other sources of problem and not just assume that hypertension is part of being old or being fat.
Japanese research published in Preventive Medicine Reports, found that dog owners over the age of 65 are 40 percent less likely to develop dementia. So, am going to add owning my border collie to my health regime too! LOL

What about very low blood pressure? Makes me feel tired and foggy a lot.
I have a friend who is (like me) almost 70. His systolic bp is 110-120 and he has been told to raise his bp as he sometimes gets faint.
A new analysis of a vaccination program in Wales found that the shingles vaccine appeared to lower new dementia diagnoses by 20% — more than any other known intervention.
5:21 he meant to say the old normal of 140, not 120
