The "eat six times a day" advice is what made me diabetic.
I'm a US physician and I can't tell you the amount of truth and medical wisdom being shared for free! Thank you Doc!
Anyone else say "hello, health champions" before the video starts like me?
I cant tell you how much i appreciate you! On Jan 14 I was diagnosed type II. It threw me for a loop. I refused to go on meds. Thinking I'd fix it with diet and exercise. Two weeks in I found your videos.. and what you said made so much sense. Long story short. Had my blood test on the 14th. My dr nearly fell out when she saw the results! I am Proud to say I'm no longer diabetic.. my a1c went from 7.2 to 5.2 in 3 month.. Thank YOU! I Heard what you said! I learned what you said!
Here is a summary of the video with bullet points: Key Points: * The Blood Sugar Myth: The common belief that energy comes solely from blood sugar is misleading. * Blood Sugar Roller Coaster: Frequent eating to maintain blood sugar levels can lead to energy fluctuations and insulin resistance. * Stable Blood Sugar: The body prefers stable blood sugar levels for optimal energy and mood. * Alternative Energy Source: Ketones can provide up to 75% of the brain's energy, especially when glucose is low. * The Importance of Real Food: Eating whole foods with fat and protein helps stabilize blood sugar levels. * Challenging the Norm: Traditional views on normal blood sugar levels, especially after meals, may be too lenient. * ATP Production: The body uses ATP as its primary energy currency, produced through oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis. * Fat as Energy Storage: Fat is a highly efficient energy storage form, and the body prefers to use it as fuel. * The Dangers of Blood Sugar Swings: Frequent blood sugar fluctuations can lead to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and other health issues. * Beyond Blood Sugar: Other factors like stress, nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, and gut health can significantly impact overall health. * The Importance of Testing: Measuring key biomarkers like glucose, triglycerides, A1C, insulin, cholesterol, and gut microbiome can provide valuable insights into individual health. In essence, the video emphasizes the importance of understanding blood sugar regulation, the role of real food in maintaining stable energy levels, and the potential health risks associated with frequent blood sugar fluctuations.
As an RN for over 40 years, the most difficult part of your teachings is to move away from the old school thoughts. Specifically, that a 1-hour postprandial blood sugar of 140 is normal, and a 2-hour postprandial blood sugar of 120 is normal. This new teaching that blood sugars should not rise considerably after a meal is something I'm working to grasp, and using a CGM is helping. Thank you for not staying with conventional (and often unhealthy) medical advice! ❤😊
