Gout was the first thing to go when I started GLP-1.
Why there is no mention of fructose.
What I thought was gout was pseudo-gout caused by oxalates. A pox on the peddlers of resveratrol. Dr. Stanfield was one of the first to speak against the weak, compromised, and misleading applications of that research. Resveratrol is most commonly extracted from Japanese knotweed in supplements which is extremely high in oxalates, as much as the most common known sources (spinach, beets, chard). I reduced the major sources of oxalates in my diet, including black tea, and enjoy red meat and seafood without any attacks on my joints.
Well, with allopurinol side effects are rare, but GLP-1 medications have numerous side effects. So is that a win?
"...annoyed about how much misinformation online about restrictive diets and people still having painful gout attacks..." But GLP1 literally is a diet via restriction. They're just inhibiting the desire to eat rather than exerting willpower. That's not progress, that's a sidestep. I still can't go eat KBBQ or my foot will get ripped apart, I'll just have the urge to eat less. But for someone who can eat 0 beef right now, this is wholly meaningless.
Such a well done explanation. Thanks so much.

I have had gout for 23 years. Didnβt like taking the medication so I attempted to manage it with food. I found that if I eliminate seed oils and as much sugar as possible and limit alcohol intake to a minimum I am able to live gout free. I also take a uric acid supplement and maintain an active lifestyle. Within the above limits I can eat whatever I like including red meat and seafood. Great video Dr Brad.
I'm so happy you left the small verbal imperfections in this video and didn't re-record it. Some of my friends and I have been arguing about whether the person appearing in your recent videos might not be an AI video avatar (of stunning realism) reciting a script! π
Thanks for outlining your very thoughtful treatment approach to gout. I love the idea of using GLP1's to treat the whole body while reducing uric acid. This approach will also benefit from the myriad of pleiotropic effects from the GLP1s. Also, great point about titrating the other meds as the various targeted biomarkers are reduced. I'd say that this same point is valid for many maintenance meds like LLTs, antihypertensives, autoimmune medications, etc.
