And then we learned the best method to be an elite runner is to be Kenyan.
I’m 53 and run 5K, five mornings a week outside. Couldn’t tell you my BPM, VO₂ max, etc - I don't care. I just know I feel great.
Zone 2 for 70%, weights for 25%, and high intensity for 5% for me. Excellent video, cool to learn about some history there too!
Vary training, and regardless of the type of training, keep in mind the simple rhyme "Injury free, that's the key".
