Dana was also on TRT - I've heard that helps... especially in middle aged men... not to say that fasting didn't make a difference. But the title of this video is kind of misleading.
I had been doing a 70hr fast once a month for 5yrs (w/ daily strength training and bone broth). Once I hit 44yrs of age I realized I was losing muscle as well as fat. I now do caloric restriction for 70hrs monthly. I still have bone broth but added a 30-50gram daily protein shake. The feel of the restriction vs the fast is entirely different. Much, much less suffering obviously, but in a total fast there’s a bunch of euphoria realized after 60ish hrs. Feelings of gratitude, empathy, kindness, love, etc. Doing the fast I did over the yrs helped me understand why nearly every religion has a fasting component. Anyway all that to say, try it, find a pattern that works for you. It’s a superpower of discipline everyone should unlock within themselves.
Yes, this is what seems to work best for me too - 36hr + low carb + cardio.
Hey, Thomas - what about lap swimming, instead of resistance (weight) training? It uses ever major muscle group in your body, and I'd think there'd be much less chance of catabolizing muscle due to overexertion. What do you think? Love the videos, as always.
Your information and detail explanations are invaluable 👏👏👏👏🏴
Fantastic seeing you jam packed with motivational knowledge discovered through your world leading research. Very supportive! From Craig. UK.
Have you tried the refresher protein powder, if so what's your opinion on it and when we should use it? Been following you since Christmas, down 65lbs thanks for the help!
I love how Thomas combines various facts on nutrition and exercise into action plans that make sense. Helps a lot!
Hi Thomas! What liquid base do you use for whey protein shakes? Thanks!
Insightful. Thank you
