The Most Powerful Compound for Stopping Insulin Resistance has Been Discovered
TMG: Rewriting Metabolic Health by Optimizing Cellular Stress and Insulin Signaling
Discover how supporting deep cellular energy production with Trimethylglycine (TMG) can resolve insulin resistance by optimizing cell signaling, balancing gene expression, and upgrading your mitochondria.
Short Summary
- Implement TMG supplementation to improve insulin efficiency, requiring less insulin response after glucose challenges.
- Upgrade mitochondrial function by increasing energy pathway output (Complex I/IV) and facilitating beneficial mitochondrial fusion.
- Modulate epigenetics and activate the master metabolic switch, AMPK, to promote fat burning over energy storage.
This deep dive reveals the three primary mechanisms through which TMG fundamentally enhances metabolic health, moving beyond simple homocysteine lowering to directly impact cellular engines and glucose management. Understanding the connection between TMG, methylation, and mitochondrial health provides a pragmatic guide for improving insulin sensitivity.

Thomas, this is exactly the problem with a lot of these videos: You take a real biochemical mechanism (methyl donors, AMPK, mitochondrial fusion, etc.) and then inflate it into something that sounds like a “missing link” for fixing insulin resistance. But no supplement fixes the core issue: chronic glucose overload and high-glycemic eating. TMG is a methyl donor. That’s it. Yes, it can mildly improve biomarkers in pre-diabetic people. Yes, it supports methylation and NAD recycling. But none of that matters if someone’s still spiking glucose to 160–200 every day. Glycation damage doesn’t stop because someone took a scoop of betaine. The hierarchy is simple: Lower glycemic load Improve insulin sensitivity with diet + exercise Reduce inflammation Manage sleep + cortisol THEN maybe add small methylation support LMFAO, TMG is point #5, not the “deep mitochondrial driver of metabolic transformation.” If people fix the actual drivers of insulin resistance, they won’t need these magic-compound videos. If they don’t fix them, TMG won’t save them. We need less mechanism hype, more metabolic honesty.
Just to add — the comments here actually prove my point. People are confused, overwhelmed, and think they need a whole supplement stack to fix insulin resistance. That tells me the core message is getting lost. You built this channel on fundamentals that really help people. I’ve followed you for years and respect your work — I just want to see those basics stay front and center instead of a new compound every week.
TMG is also known as Betain which may also help lower high blood pressure.
Geez. I’m going to need to open my own supplement store just to be able to get this plethora of supplements.
I freaking love this channel! I may not be able to do every single thing I learn here all at once, but I'm learning enough to choose what strategies to try and what bears further research and consideration to become part of my routines. Thanks, Thomas!
TMG and Cinnamon are what turned the tide in my battle. Thank you Thomas!!!!
