Polysorbate 80 , polysorbate 60 , carrageenan . Found in salad dressings, doritos ,ultra processed desserts that are shelf stable .
Problem is they change the names on labels and try disguise it
I rarely eat out anymore. Prefer to cook my food at home where I know I am using clean ingredients.
It has gotten to the point that if you don't make it from scratch, don't eat it.
Polysorbates (especially Polysorbate 80 and Polysorbate 60) are common food additives used as emulsifiers, stabilizers, and surfactants in processed foods. Here are some common grocery foods that often contain polysorbates: 1. Ice Cream & Frozen Desserts Polysorbate 80 helps stabilize and improve texture. 2. Coffee Creamers (Non-Dairy) Used to keep oils from separating. 3. Whipped Toppings & Whipped Cream Substitutes Provides smooth texture and prevents separation. 4. Baked Goods & Pastries Found in cake mixes, frostings, donuts, and bread products to improve moisture and texture. 5. Salad Dressings & Sauces Emulsifies oil and water for a uniform texture. 6. Chewing Gum & Candy Polysorbate 60 or 80 helps blend flavors and improve mouthfeel. 7. Pickles & Pickled Products Sometimes used as a surfactant to help brine penetrate better. 8. Chocolate Syrups & Dessert Sauces Helps maintain consistency and prevent separation. 9. Gelatin Desserts & Puddings (Instant mixes) Used for stabilizing and improving texture. 10. Processed Meats & Sausages Occasionally used to retain moisture and improve texture. 11. Nutritional Supplements & Meal Replacements Found in protein shakes and fiber drinks for mixing and stabilizing.
My daughter bought some candy which literally has a label that says: "E102 and E129 may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children"! How can they even sell it?
Maltodextrin is in almost everything and when I cut it out, I cured rheumatoid arthritis. When I accidentally eat it, I swell and pain comes back.
Hopefully these ingredients become illegal rather than just called something different that we won't recognize, in the near future.
