As a 59 year old, I can tell you, this is spot on. GAINING muscle at my age is HARD. I wish I had been better at retaining my muscle.

So hard to regain lost ground! Very active, trail runner, lifted weights, etc, up to 57 yrs old. Then injuries, impacted my abilities to train. Lost desire, traded gym time for sleep. Lost strength and slowly gained abdominal fat. Now at 60, trying to turn it around, lose the belly and regain the strength.. very difficult. DONT STOP. KEEP TRAINING….

I gained a lot of muscle after 40. I didn’t start working out heavily until after 40 and I only do HIIT classes.

66 years old been training since 10. Never stopped training. No juice ever. 5’7 195 in my 20’s with 18” arms. Never followed a 1 gram of protein. I’m lucky if I was hitting 100 grams on some days. Now At 66 I weigh 188.i try to eat 185 grams per day but it’s tuff. my arms have dropped to 17” very depressing but I keep going! Stay on it.

Started CrossFit after 46, and I’ve build a lot of muscle. Doing 5x workouts with a mix of hiit and strength. Varied functional fitness works.

I am 42, and in the spirit of one more run to get a good body i actualy started lifting seriously last summer. Push/pull/legs rest and repeat. Proteine intake around 180 grams a day. I track calories and am actualy managing to recomp, lost 10 kilos in roughly 6 months and gained some muscle (not measured with dexa), but all my lifts are better and my back has grown a lot. I know there a lot of factors that come into play, but i wanted to share because for some of us it is still possible to get a realy good physique even in when you start in your 40's.

At 46, I train twice a week and got better results than training daily. Rest is under rated.

Im 65 and still bodybuilding. Natural testosterone level is 613, but I noticed a significant decline when I hit 50. It was like a light switch going off.
